Our people are at the heart of everything we do at Check. We are excited to launch our search for a strategic, business-minded Head of People to lead our People function. In this role, you will ensure that we are building a high-performing team that allows our business to thrive while operating with inclusion, kindness, and alignment with Check’s Core Values. 

In this role, you will:

  • Set the vision and strategy for our people function, with a strong focus on building a high-performance culture that helps Check achieve our business goals 
  • Serve as a member of our leadership team, driving decision-making and alignment in our people approaches and serving as a coach and thought partner to our senior leaders 
  • Develop high-impact initiatives aligned to a people strategy, for example, manager enablement, programs and processes that support DEIB goals, and developing a People Ops roadmap. 
  • Drive cohesive, high-quality communications cadences and content across the organization at key touch points such as company All Hands, training, and manager meetings.
  • Lead and develop our five-person People Team (People Ops, HRBP, and Talent Acquisition) 

Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have some or all of the following:

  • Strong strategic orientation and business acumen. This role is a critical enabler of business performance, and we are looking for a leader who can develop a people strategy that meets the evolving needs of our business.
  • Track record of operational excellence. We are seeking a strong track record of results and impact, in or outside of the people function. The right candidate will have experience deploying company-wide initiatives that move the needle. 
  • Ability to drive executive-level decision-making. The right candidate will effectively drive decision-making at all levels across the organization while operating as a coach and counselor for senior leaders. 
  • Experience managing high-performing teams, with a clear track record of investment in your team members’ success.
  • Willingness and ability to attend our annual 3-day company offsite in the fall, and to travel approximately one work week per quarter for leadership team meetings 

Travel and Office Policy

The Check team is distributed across the US and we have offices in New York City and San Francisco. While we welcome remote work, we believe time together in person is valuable and important. We offer ample opportunities and encourage employees to attend team offsites, events, and hackathons a couple of times a year! We expect all employees to be willing to attend our annual 3-day company offsite in the fall.  For our in-office and hybrid employees, our offices are open all week. We provide meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the team hosts regular happy hours, game nights, etc. 

 

What we offer: 

In the US, Check offers company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term/long-term disability, and basic life insurance coverage to all full-time employees, effective on their first day of work. We also provide stock options, flexible PTO and sick leave, 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents flexible return-to-work, 9 annual holidays, a 401k retirement plan, and a $100 monthly stipend for home internet and mobile phone expenses. Benefits may vary outside the US.

The expected annual salary for this role is between $194,700 and $233,640

dependent upon each candidate’s unique experience and qualifications.
