About the Role
SGS is seeking an
Accountant to join our team and maintain general accounting functions and systems to ensure timely & accurate recording of all transactions. Reporting to the SGS Controller, you will be responsible for reconciliations, analysis reporting, and serving as a subject matter expert in the finance and accounting function. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to document and establish scalable processes, as well as provide audit and reporting support to internal stakeholders, as well as the Parent Company’s Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, Legal, IT, Business Development, and Operations teams.Responsibilities
- Ensure deliverables are compliant with company, GAAP, CAS, and FAR procedures and compliance
- Utilize and optimize Deltek Costpoint Accounting, including planning modules and business intelligence systems, to manage, plan, optimize, and record all SGS financial activities
- Maintain timely records of monthly transactions, reconciliations, reports, Journal entries, accruals, recurring entries, billings, cash receipts, vouchers, ACH and wire transfers, project setup, role assignments, and admin functions for various systems
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, incurred costs submissions, and general ledger
- Establish a regular cadence to review AP/AR/Billing/Payroll/Internal Controls
- Maintain cash flow forecast, as well as provide data for consolidation and weekly reporting for Controller and Parent Company
- Coordinate and maintain labor distribution, project accounting, and payroll records prepared by the Parent Company in a third-party system
- Assist Controller with month-end closing processes, checklist, and tasks
- Prepare project status and labor reports, general ledger, and financial statements
- Support and assist with all audit and compliance initiatives, including DCAA compliance
- Maintain SGS balance sheet
- Record intercompany labor and shared service charges
- Manage relationships with staff and auditors, and respond timely to requests
- Work closely with various teams, including strategy, leadership, and project management to provide guidance and support for various inquiries, reporting, and projects
- Identify potential improvements to existing practices and procedures, as well as collaborate cross-functionally to manage change
- Conduct special projects as assigned
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible to meet Secret federal clearance requirements
- 5+ years of government accounting experience with general ledger, job costing, and GAAP compliance
- Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint Accounting required
- Proficiency with SAP Concur Travel and Expense software required
- FAR, DFARS, CAS experience required
- Experience with banking transactions
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills
- Strong problem-solving, analysis aptitude, and consultative approach
- Ability to constructively pivot and prioritize based on business needs in a fast-paced environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills required; ability to communicate financial analysis to non-financial audience
- Ability to operate with a high level of discretion
- Strong organization and project management skills
