Voter Formation Project (VFP) is a 501(c)3 organization committed to increasing participation in elections using innovative, long-term, and data-driven digital communications strategies to engage, register, and mobilize new and infrequent voters of color.

VFP is seeking a Video Producer to join our Creative Team. The Video Producer has a deep passion for video and audio production that focuses on elections, voter engagement, and mobilization of underrepresented communities. They will work with our Creative Team to write, produce, and edit a variety of content for VFP’s voter registration and mobilization work, with a primary focus on our paid digital advertising program.

The ideal candidate will have strong visual, video, audio, editing, and animation skills and a drive to inspire dynamic ideas that connect with all types of audiences.

We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis through Friday, May 3, as we’re looking to have the hire start in mid-June 2024. Candidates who do not submit a portfolio with their application will not be considered. Preferred candidates will apply by Tuesday, April 23.

This is a limited term position, with an end date of December 31, 2024.

As the Video Producer you will:

Produce a range of video content for voter engagement and mobilization efforts as well as projects for our social media channels. This includes pitching, writing, and producing content for our digital advertising programs, scripted call-to-action videos, motion graphic explainers, external promotional social videos and other forms of media.

Schedule and manage pre-production for shoots, story outlining, and drafting production plansEdit projects that were filmed in the field from freelancers and also from our in-house production team.

Produce and/or edit voice overs for videos.

Produce and/or edit audio advertisements for audio-only platforms.

Test various video formats across our platforms.

Create animations for videos and other media.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in professional video production work.

Proficiency in After Effects and Adobe Premiere

A proven track record of managing video and creating compelling work.

Flexible to pick up other duties as needed, such as developing graphics in a pinch.

Highly motivated with an ability to manage projects and work without a huge amount of oversight from management.

Able to juggle multiple projects at once and operate under deadline pressure.

Ability to collaborate across multiple teams with varying needs.

Commitment to the mission and vision of VFP and an understanding of its place in the non-partisan voter registration and mobilization industry.

Strong project management skills.

Ability to develop and adhere to project timelines.

Strong communication skills, allowing the development of healthy working relationships with internal and external partners.

Interest in continuous improvement and professional development, including staying up-to-date on best practices and platform changes.

Energized to work in a start-up organization

Enthusiasm for Voter Formation Project’s mission and vision.

Starting salary for the Video Producer is $80,000 per year.

The Voter Formation Project does not negotiate starting salaries. All Voter Formation Project employees are formally reviewed twice annually, in December and July, for performance and compensation adjustments. New employees who are onboarded more than four months in advance of the next compensation review will receive off-cycle compensation review to ensure equitable alignment within their compensation band.

While the Voter Formation Project is an organization that works in political cycles, we whole-heartedly reject campaign culture and are focused on developing new, healthy norms for campaign work—even in-cycle.

Voter Formation Project operates on the four-day work week. In general, we work from Monday to Thursday and are closed on Fridays (holiday schedules may shift our work week). Our four days of work are standard eight-hour work days; we do not work a schedule of four ten-hour days. We work primarily on Eastern Standard Time (EST) but are open to folks working in other timezones.
