We are open to remote candidates located within CST to BRT time zones.

AtMetaLab, we design pretty exciting products, but the architecture and building are where you come in. Our technology team needs your help in conceiving new ideas with technology and bringing our products across the finish line for our clients to enjoy in the wild.

To thrive in this role, you’ll provide technical expertise and guidance on projects, solve big problems, learn new skills, and show up ready for anything.  You collaborate with our design, product, and engineering teams to find relatable, new ways to use technology, help others work within technical limits, and build products that improve people’s lives. You will also lead the technical design of many behind-the-scenes systems and processes that our products depend on to run reliably at scale.

Your team is important to you, and you take pride in helping build and guide junior and intermediate developers to grow into leaders. The magic happens when you combine thoughtful collaboration, strong processes, and the freedom for people to be themselves. When you’re comfortable being yourself, you do your best work and inspire others to do the same.

What you’ll do

  • Lead frontend and backend engineering teams to build product features from start to finish, from conception to implementation and maintenance
  • Collaborate with our talented design and product teams to ideate, concept, validate, and develop new products and features
  • Lead and perform discovery on new projects, working directly with client stakeholders and our team to facilitate deep understanding, documentation, and assessment of existing systems, constraints, risks, and new solution opportunities
  • Define and document the technical and cloud architecture of a product, its supporting services, and the underlying infrastructure, and help plan development cycles or sprints to deliver applications in production
  • Provide an informed point-of-view on software engineering tools and technologies, and design technical solutions that internal and client teams understand and are excited to work on
  • Architect and release production applications with global scalability, availability, and performance as a requirement
  • Code and review code for quality, correctness, consistency, and performance
  • Work with other vendors to document and deliver desired architecture and cloud configuration specifications on an ongoing basis
  • Meet clients, and participate in shares and workshops with the client stakeholders on technical architecture, cloud architecture, and project progress

Requirements

  • 6+ years of full-stack experience as a contributing engineer or engineering lead, with expertise in Node.js and/or Python
  • 4+ years experience operating as a DevOps engineer or technical architect
  • You can articulate engineering solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders using oral, written, and visual communications
  • You can produce diagrams and documentation that reflect architectural decisions, patterns, and principals
  • You have experience developing frontend client applications using React and/or React Native
  • You have experience developing REST and GraphQL APIs
  • You have experience designing API schemas, data models, and database architecture
  • You have DevOps experience implementing, testing, and automating the configuration and deployment of service infrastructure using tools like Terraform with cloud providers like AWS, GCP, and Azure
  • You’re always learning and invested in keeping up to date with advances in technology
  • You have an appreciation of design and user experience

Nice to haves

  • Experience using ML models and AI services to power real-live products (ie. Google Cloud AI, Azure AI, AWS AI or Bedrock, GPT, Dialogflow, Claude, LangChain)
  • Experience implementing ML algorithms with common frameworks in end-to-end applications (ie. TensorFlow, Synaptic, ML5.js, Spark ML)
  • Experience in an agency setting
