Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to spearhead the development of innovative software applications for the Homeland Security Information Network including end use applications such as streamlining the flow of relevant information between responders in emergency situations. This role is pivotal in empowering cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital services solutions that will need to meet challenging functional requirements. The Technical Lead will utilize leading-edge technologies to build responsive web and mobile applications, ensuring they are user-friendly, secure, and effective. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in software development, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of Agile methodologies.

Contract to Hire:

This role is for a bid with Homeland Security. The initial phase for the successful candidate will include a roughly 2 hour oral presentation to Homeland Security along with a few weeks of practice for up to a few hours each day (contract). Upon successful award of the contract we will transition to a full time hire. 

Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership: Communicate complex technical options, trade-offs, and risks effectively with the Product Management team and leadership, guiding the strategic direction for application development.
  • Software Development: Lead the development of responsive web applications and cross-platform/native iOS/Android mobile applications
  • Agile Methodology Advocacy: Champion Agile practices within project teams, facilitating the delivery of deployable software within agreed timelines. Encourage continuous improvement and adaptability in the development process.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Actively participate in design sessions, sprint ceremonies, cross-functional meetings, and integration team collaborations. Foster a culture of open communication and collective problem-solving.
  • Quality Assurance and Security: Oversee testing practices and code reviews to maintain high code quality and security standards. Ensure the integrity of the codebase and the overall security of the product.
  • Feature Development and Troubleshooting: Work closely with team members and integration partners to develop new features, troubleshoot issues, debug, and resolve challenges across all environments efficiently.
  • Environment and Infrastructure Management: Manage multiple integrated environments, overseeing connection and security configurations. Monitor and maintain applications and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, stability, and security.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Full stack development experience
  • Mobile application development experience (IOS, Android, and/or hybrid)
  • Experience mentoring other developers
  • Agile development
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to present ideas in user friendly language to non-technical staff and end users
  • Experience in dealing with difficult interpersonal situations
  • Self-motivated, with strong ability to work both independently and with teams and managers as appropriate
