We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead a new software development team in Threat Hunting Services at Zscaler. In this role, you will drive the development of data and threat hunting platforms for identifying, classifying, and detecting security incidents in all Zscaler products. Your responsibilities will include designing, coding, and maintaining innovative data platforms, as well as coaching junior team members on development best practices.
Responsibilities:- Contribute to the long-term vision for the team's engineering platforms, including vulnerability scanning, data transport and analytics, and business intelligence.
- Lead the design and implementation of distributed software platforms for continuous assessment of threats and vulnerabilities across Zscaler software and hardware assets.
- Maintain a high bar for engineering excellence to ensure 24/7 availability in a full DevOps model.
- Collaborate with product management and distributed systems engineering teams to complete large-scale projects.
- Operate in an Agile development environment.
- Support the team's engineering excellence through code reviews and mentoring.
- Foster a strong team culture.
- 12+ years of software development, including 5+ years of experience in IaaS/PaaS development at scale on public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and operating data engineering platforms and scalable web services.
- Expertise in designing, implementing and operating data engineering platforms and scalable web services, including schema management, transport (Kafka, SQS), warehousing and storage (AWS Redshift, AuroraDB, MySQL, Postgres), processing (streaming and batch ETL/ELT pipelines, Kinesis, Airflow, Spring batch), analytics (Spark, Hadoop, BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake), and business intelligence reports (Tableau, QuickSight).
- Proven track record of designing and operating applications at scale.
- Demonstrated focus on automation and streamlined engineering efficiency.
- Strong knowledge in system design and designing for scale.
- Expertise in programming in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, Scala, Golang, Rust.

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
