We are seeking a strongly motivated Research Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our preclinical gene therapy work by supporting research scientists in a range of activities including clinical and ophthalmic examinations, test article handling and dosing, electrophysiological recordings, in vivo imaging, blood collection and handling, necropsy. The Research Associate will work closely with our team of research scientists and veterinary staff to perform procedures according to standard operating procedures in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to support our goal of performing first-in-human clinical studies.   

Role & responsibilities:

  • Test article dosing
  • Ophthalmic examinations (slit lamp, intraocular pressure, central corneal thickness)
  • Electrophysiological recordings (electroretinograms, cortical recordings)
  • In vivo imaging (Optical Coherence Tomography, funduscopy)
  • Necropsies
  • Blood collection and handling
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Study Protocols and IACUC Protocols
  • Perform experimentation and documentation following the GLPs

Key qualifications:

  • Experience with large animal research models
  • Experience with ophthalmic and /or cranial research procedures
  • Proficient in sterile technique
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate records
  • Excellent communications and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Preferred qualifications: 

  • GLP experience 
  • Preclinical research experience

Salary/Pay Range:

Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.  We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000- $110,000 annually + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
