Turing is seeking a highly motivated and business-minded Commercial Counsel to join our growing legal team. As a key member of Turing Legal, you will report to the Head of Commercial Legal to advise on and negotiate an array of commercial deals. The ideal candidate has some experience in a fast-paced tech environment drafting and negotiating complex deals in evolving areas of technology.  The successful candidate can juggle and shift multiple competing priorities while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary legal advisor for Turing’s enterprise sales teams.
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of legal agreements ranging from sales MSAs, SOWs, strategic partnerships, consulting agreements, to vendor procurement. 
  • Revise templates or draft new templates as necessary.
  • Assist with other legal matters on an as-needed basis, including advising internal teams on legal and regulatory compliance matters, including data protection, privacy, and intellectual property issues.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks in areas from existing templates to process gaps or inefficiencies.
  • Shaping and improving our legal processes, standard operating procedures, handbooks, playbooks to enable both legal and business functions to scale effectively.
  • Advise our business teams on relevant legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of commercial legal experience, either in-house or at a law firm. 
  • Active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar association.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and persuasion skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organization and project management skills.
  • Pragmatic, creative legal thinker with excellent judgment and a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges.
  • Ability to think quickly on your feet, convey grace under pressure, and simultaneously manage workloads, multiple client demands, and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving workplace.
  • Good sense of humor, low ego, disdain for drama, curiosity, and desire to get things done.

 

* For candidates living in CA, CO, CT, MD, NV, NY, RI, WA the expected base pay range is $150,000 - $175,000, depending on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
