Backend Engineer, Geo Team

📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain backend for Geo, Disaster Recovery, and Backup/Restore in Ruby on Rails
• Improve replication, verification workflows for repositories and data
• Leverage PostgreSQL features (logical replication) to support migrations and Cells architectures
• Reduce replication lag and verification failures via logs, metrics, and alerts
• Collaborate with Database Engineering, Infrastructure, GitLab Dedicated, and Tenant Scale teams
• Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews, turning findings into improvements

🎯 Requirements

• Experience building and maintaining Ruby on Rails apps in production
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational DBs, including replication, indexing, performance
• Understanding of distributed systems, replication concepts, and failure modes
• Experience building/operating background job systems like Sidekiq
• Knowledge of replication/verification patterns, including checksums, ordered delivery, and
• Experience operating or debugging large production deployments across install methods, OS, or cloud
