Communications Associate, Temporary

📋 Description

• Two-year temporary role in ProPublica's communications team.
• Build relationships with print, digital, radio and TV outlets nationwide; respond to media requests
• Help craft sharp narratives from complex investigations; pitch stories to media and manage media
• Draft and disseminate press releases for staff hires, initiatives and awards.
• Coordinate republishing guidelines and rights with media rights teams; liaise on article rights
• Collaborate on reader feedback and inbound messages with the communications team.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum three years in communications, marketing or public relations; newsroom experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; impeccable news judgment.
• Experience with CMS, media tools (Meltwater, Cision, Muck Rack) and databases (Airtable).
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under deadlines; collaborative team player.
• Ability to adapt across multiple projects and pivot as needed.
