📋 Description

• Lead a distributed, remote backend engineering team in the Database Excellence stage.
• Own database health, upgrade experience for GitLab.com and self-managed deployments.
• Build and grow a new India-based engineering cluster and manage a long-horizon platform program.
• Balance database health with a multi-year migration system replacement.
• Maintain production health through handbook-first, asynchronous workflows.

🎯 Requirements

• Engineering management experience leading remote, distributed teams across time zones.
• Production PostgreSQL experience, including capacity planning.
• Experience leading long-horizon platform or infrastructure programs.
• Hiring and team-building experience, including standing up new sites or teams.
• Strong written communication and ability to coach engineers across levels.
• Ability to set priorities, protect focus, and collaborate cross-functionally.
