Forward Deployed Engineer

📋 Description

• Embed with enterprise customers to understand their tech environments and data.
• Design, build, and deploy AI and agentic solutions for customer infrastructure.
• Extend and integrate Instacart's AI into customer ecosystems, even if undocumented.
• Maintain close relationships with R&D; flag platform gaps and propose changes.
• Collaborate with the AI Solutions Architect to translate requirements into software.
• Serve as the primary technical contact during implementations.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering with production-quality code.
• Hands-on with LLM APIs, function calling, tool use, agent frameworks, or RAG pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python or another scripting/backend language.
• Experience integrating with messy enterprise data environments—undocumented APIs and legacy systems.
• Direct experience with external enterprise customers or technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills to translate field learnings to R&D/product teams.
