Lead Software Engineer, Backend - Service Mesh

📋 Description

• Define and drive multi-year technical strategy for the service mesh platform
• Architect and review mesh infra (Istio, Envoy or equivalent)
• Lead platform concerns: traffic, discovery, mTLS, observability, rate limiting
• Set engineering standards, code quality, reviews, and post-mortem culture
• Drive AI-assisted engineering tooling adoption across the team
• Lead execution from ambiguous initiatives to concrete delivery

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years in software engineering; 3+ in distributed systems
• Hands-on with service mesh tech: Istio/Envoy/Linkerd etc
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infra (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Proficiency in Go (preferred) or Java/Python; CI/CD and IaC
• Experience guiding AI tooling adoption in engineering teams
