Lead Software Engineer, Backend - Service Mesh

📋 Description

• Lead the multi-year technical strategy for the service mesh platform (data plane and control plane
• Architect and review mesh infrastructure changes (Istio, Envoy) with focus on reliability
• Manage platform-wide concerns: traffic management, service discovery, mTLS, observability, rate
• Drive cross-team architecture decisions and represent mesh platform in forums
• Oversee execution: break down plans, guide delivery, coordinate with teams
• Promote AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate velocity

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years software engineering, 3+ years in distributed systems/networking/platform infra
• Hands-on with service mesh tech (Istio/Envoy/Linkerd/Consul)
• Experience with microservices networking: HTTP, TCP/IP, gRPC, TLS/mTLS, load balancing
• Leadership in delivering complex platform projects across teams
• Proficiency in Go (preferred), Java, or Python; experience with Kubernetes and cloud infra
