Manager Engineering – Backend

📋 Description

• Lead AI/ML engineering efforts for Tekion products as an Engineering Manager or Senior Engineering
• Own hands-on coding while growing an AI team to 5–8 engineers.
• Set technical direction: AI architecture, data pipelines, model serving, and microservice
• Drive build-vs-buy decisions and evaluate open-source vs API-based solutions.
• Oversee technical debt, code reviews, and system reliability for AI components.

🎯 Requirements

• 11+ years software engineering experience; 1+ year in AI/ML-focused roles (applied ML, NLP, GenAI).
• 3+ years of engineering management experience with track record of growing teams.
• Hands-on production coding experience; not a purely managerial role.
• Deep hands-on experience with LLMs in production: RAG architectures, prompt engineering, agentic
• Strong fundamentals in system design, API design, distributed systems, CI/CD, and production ops.
