MidMarket Sales Engineer (Chicago)

📋 Description

• Serve as technical authority in enterprise sales cycles from discovery to close, owning POV success
• Lead architecture-level conversations with security, email, and identity teams.
• Conduct technical discovery to uncover risk and value beyond requirements.
• Research technical and competitive landscapes to address questions and objections.
• Answer architecture-level and modern threat questions without delegating to Product/Engineering.
• Explain why legacy secure email gateways fail against social engineering and identity-based attacks.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of Sales Engineering or relevant industry experience.
• Ability to lead technical discovery and architecture discussions with security, infrastructure
• Strong technical presentation and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to see the big picture, uncover complex business challenges, and architect solutions.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-impact sales environment.
• Positive customer focus and ownership over customer results.

Nice to Have

• Experience with enterprise email security platforms (Proofpoint, Mimecast, Cisco, Barracuda, etc.).
• Messaging/security principles background; hands-on with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
• Strong SMTP mail flow, MX records, mail routing knowledge.
• Experience with email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and failure modes.
• Cloud SaaS infrastructure identity services (Azure AD/Entra ID/Google Identity).
• Ability to explain identity-driven and modern social engineering attacks at an architectural level.
