Principal Engineer, Core - Pinner Journeys

📋 Description

• Set technical vision for Homefeed, Search, and AI Assistant experiences.
• Define long‑term architecture across relevance, retrieval, ranking, and generative AI.
• Lead large‑scale retrieval and ranking system design and deployment.
• Architect integration of LLMs with core discovery stack (query understanding, safety
• Drive experimentation, metrics, offline/online evaluation, and causal inference.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, data science, and design teams.

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years in large‑scale systems or ML with impact in search/recommendations.
• Experience as Principal Engineer/Architect or equivalent.
• Expertise in two or more: large‑scale retrieval/ranking, representation learning, search systems
• Ability to drive multi‑year architectural transformations and partner with PM/Design/DS.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; mentoring senior engineers.
• Bachelor’s in CS or equivalent experience; nice to have consumer discovery product experience.
