Principal Optical Engineer (Starfall)

📋 Description

• Own free-space optical system design for a navigation sensor
• Lead optics, detectors, circuits, and enclosures for space use
• Mentor engineers and raise the team's technical bar
• Collaborate with software/automation for testing tools
• Interface with manufacturing for high-rate production
• Contribute to mission-critical navigation applications

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in optical engineering, physics, or related field
• 8+ years in optics/photonic design or testing
• 8+ years in C++, MATLAB, and/or Python
• Hands-on lab or field experience with imaging/IR systems
• Experience with optical analysis tools (e.g., Zemax)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
