Senior Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• Own problem spaces end to end: write specs, acceptance & review.
• Build AI into the product: convert airline quotes to bookable quotes.
• Make AI trustworthy: structured outputs, evals, human review.
• Raise AI leverage across squad: better specs, harnesses, reviews.
• Build self-service tools: Vue front-ends on a Python backend.
• Hold the quality bar: automated tests, metrics, tracing, alerts, reviews.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years backend experience building web apps with strong architecture instincts.
• Strong SQL, including data consistency, indexing and race conditions.
• Spec-driven workflow: plan acceptance criteria before coding; remote-first.
• Fluent in modern AI engineering stack (LLMs, agents, MCP); ship with Claude Code.
• Judgement: critique and refine models; know when not to reach for AI.
• Product sense and empathy; low-ego collaboration.
