Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

📋 Description

• Backend Engineer on the Gitaly team building Git data storage tier.
• Work on storage, repository management, HA, performance and observability.
• Scale Git storage and repository data serving for GitLab.com and customers.
• Balance roadmap, reliability, and customer-focused work, with automation where possible.
• Collaborate across GitLab teams to deliver cross-functional outcomes.
• Take operational ownership including incident response and improvements.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience building distributed or highly available systems in production.
• End-to-end ownership of complex projects (design, rollout, ops).
• Strong systems design: performance, concurrency, observability.
• Proven ability to influence decisions and work with multiple teams.
• Mentoring engineers and improving team practices.
• Go or another backend language; experience with Ruby, Git internals, gRPC or Git server infra is
