📋 Description

  • Act as the operational point of contact on shift, making forecasting and tasking decisions within
  • Lead medium-range forecasting and acquisition planning across flood, wind, and wildfire events
  • Serve as the on-shift expert on satellite capabilities and imaging
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational best practices
  • Mentor and support other meteorologists on shift, helping distribute workload effectively
  • Participate in a rotating on-call weekend schedule (approximately one weekend every three weeks)

🎯 Requirements

  • Degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a closely related field, or an equivalent training
  • Demonstrated experience in operational forecasting, ideally in a time-critical or 24/7 environment
  • Strong working knowledge of forecasting for global flooding and tropical cyclones
  • Comfortable making and owning decisions independently under time pressure
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including with non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to participate in on-call weekend rotations and occasional 24/7 operation coverage
