Senior Optical Engineer

📋 Description

• Lead stray light analysis of IR optics using FRED.
• Specify coatings and surface treatments to maximize transmission.
• Vendor management for external optical components.
• Drive R&D for advanced coatings and harsh-environment filters.
• Define metrology test plans (spectrophotometry, BRDF) for vendors.
• Collaborate with optomechanical teams to optimize baffles and layouts.

🎯 Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in engineering or physics, or equivalent.
• 5+ years in optical systems with stray light analysis, coatings, and procurement.
• Expertise in non-sequential ray tracing and stray light software (FRED, LightTools).
• Experience with thin-film coating design/analysis software (TFCalc, Essential Macleod, OptiLayer).
• Proven track record defining specs and managing external vendors from concept to delivery.
• Hands-on metrology with spectrophotometers, scatterometers, ellipsometers, interferometers.
