You will lead ML model performance optimization within Waymo's Compute Team, focusing on
Set technical vision, direction, and roadmap for ML performance optimization across applications
Drive large, open-ended projects spanning multiple teams (application, compiler, firmware, runtime
Analyze and prototype solutions at application, compiler, or infrastructure levels to improve
Influence infra teams to prioritize performance optimizations and establish clear, methodical goals
Mentor team members to maintain technical excellence and code health.

🎯 Requirements

MS in CS/EE or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of C++
5+ years of Python
7+ years optimizing compute performance for ML
Experience in compute architectures, performance analysis, and optimization methods
Strong cross-functional communication, able to manage time-zone differences
