Staff Backend Engineer – AI

📋 Description

• Own the development, fine-tuning, and evaluation of in-house AI models from dataset design through
• Run supervised fine-tuning and post-training experiments, establishing benchmarks for ship
• Build and maintain data pipelines that feed model training with quality and reproducibility.
• Take models to production on Stream's serving stack, optimizing latency and cost at scale.
• Set technical direction for undefined problem spaces and decide what to build, test, or abandon.
• Collaborate with Go-based API teams and infrastructure to integrate models into products.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of production-level Python engineering experience with shipped code.
• Hands-on machine learning experience with supervised fine-tuning and post-training.
• Familiarity with modern fine-tuning/serving toolchains (Unsloth, Fireworks, Baseten) or equivalents.
• Cloud experience with GCP or AWS, including Terraform for IaC.
• Experience running ML-based products in production from deployment to monitoring.
• Experience designing data pipelines for training and evaluation; data engineering background is a
