Staff Backend Engineer - Databases Tempo | US | Remote

📋 Description

• Lead multi-quarter Tempo initiatives across ingest, storage, and query
• Own architecture of core Tempo components: ingestion, storage, query, metrics
• Design APIs for humans and agents; TraceQL metrics and APIs
• Drive operational excellence with SLOs, automation, and rollouts
• Mentor engineers; contribute to open source Tempo
• Participate in on-call for the services you build

🎯 Requirements

• Deep systems experience building distributed data systems (ingestion, storage, query) in production
• Strong Go programming experience; or path to Go
• Experience designing APIs for humans and agents; LLM-driven interfaces
• Operational mindset with ownership of production services, SLOs, toil reduction
• Experience operating multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure on Kubernetes
• Open source contributor; comfortable engaging a community in the open
