Staff Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• Architect, build, and evolve backend APIs, services, and event-driven workflows for millions of
• Own complex backend work from discovery to maintenance and rollout.
• Lead ambiguous initiatives by breaking problems into manageable parts and making tradeoffs.
• Improve reliability, scalability, performance, and operability of production systems.
• Debug production issues across apps, databases, caches, and queues.
• Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Infrastructure, Platform, Data, Support, and others to

🎯 Requirements

• Strong Node expertise with production backend systems.
• Staff level backend depth in APIs, distributed systems, or shared capabilities.
• Proficiency with Node, TypeScript, Elixir, Ruby/Rails, Java, Go, Python, or similar.
• Strong SQL and relational database judgment (indexing, migrations, tuning).
• Understanding of service-oriented and event-driven architectures, queues, caching, and
• Experience with deployments, containers, CI/CD, cloud services, networking basics.
