Staff+ Software Engineer, Auth & Identity

📋 Description

• Own critical, high-traffic backend systems end to end, from design through rollout and operations.
• Work on authentication, authorization, and identity platform powering Anthropic products.
• Define identity and access for humans, service accounts, and autonomous agents.
• Collaborate with product, security, and infrastructure teams to set technical direction.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years building/backend or platform systems at scale, with identity/security focus preferred.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0/OIDC, SAML, SCIM, JWTs, workload identity federation, policy engines like
• Strong emphasis on reliability, security, and on-call readiness; experience with large migrations
• Proven ability to design easy-to-use primitives with documentation and self-service.
• Comfort working across distributed, multi-region architectures; familiarity with Go, Python, Rust

🎁 Benefits

• Competitive compensation; annual salary range is $405,000 – $485,000 USD.
• Location preferred in NY, SEA, SF or Bay Area; flexible hybrid schedule.
