Underwriting Manager

📋 Description

• Own day-to-day management of the underwriting team, driving productivity, accuracy, service
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Processing, and Closing teams
• Evaluate applicant information against underwriting criteria to flag high-risk cases, confirm
• Serve as the first point of contact for eligibility escalations
• Advise the team on investment decisions for edge cases and escalations, in line with Hometap's risk
• Identify and mitigate underwriting risks, including monitoring QC error trends and emerging risk

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of underwriting experience in residential finance
• 2+ years of experience managing a production-based team
• Extraordinary attention to detail, with strong proofreading and fact-checking skills
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, particularly in nuanced, gray-area situations
• Comfortable working with legal and compliance leaders to escalate potential issues
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
