Application Software Engineer, Applied AI

📋 Description

• Develop reliable software used across SpaceX, incl. AI apps for production
• Create apps with large language models and AI capabilities
• Own full lifecycle of Applied AI from prototype to production
• Deep dive into users' problems to uncover high-leverage AI opportunities
• Architect production AI systems for agentic workflows and multi-agent orchestration
• Build evaluation frameworks and observability for AI quality, safety, and cost
• Stay at frontier of LLM techniques and best practices across SpaceX programs

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering/math or 2+ years software exp
• 1+ year of experience in full stack development
• Hands-on experience evaluating, deploying, and integrating AI models into production systems
• Proven track record shipping end-to-end AI products or features
• Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and data streaming
• Front-end experience with React/Angular and databases (PostgreSQL/SQL Server)
• Programming in Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, or Java
• Strong software engineering foundation with clean, maintainable code
• Ability to stay current with rapidly evolving AI technologies
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with agentic systems, tool-use, and multi-agent orchestration
• Experience building AI evaluation systems and observability
• Experience designing AI-powered application architectures with reliability and safety
• ITAR: U.S. citizen/national or eligible for required authorizations
• Extended hours/weekends may be required
• This role is onsite; remote/hybrid not considered
