Associate General Counsel

📋 Description

• Support AbbVie's Patent Prosecution group within IP, Transactions, and Innovation legal team
• Locations: North Chicago, IL; Waltham, MA; South San Francisco, CA; Irvine, CA; hybrid on-site 3+ days/week
• Develop and implement IP strategies for AbbVie's products, focusing on neuroscience
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide; manage outside counsel
• Challenge and defend patents in IPR and post-grant proceedings
• Conduct prior art searches and due diligence for business development

🎯 Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school; bar in-house eligibility; USPTO registration
• 8+ years patent law experience as attorney or agent; US/foreign patent prosecution
• Technical background in pharmaceutical patent prosecution; small molecule and/or biologics
• Technical degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or bioengineering
• Strong legal, analytical, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to manage complex projects to deadlines
