Associate Product Counsel, Safety

📋 Description

• Serve as legal advisor to Safety Product on reporting, routing, and remediation.
• Support guardrails for deploying safety models; partner with Safety ML on build and validation.
• Review and assess new safety features from design to deployment.
• Advise on user-facing reporting, takedown workflows; EU DSA/US acts.
• Monitor global online safety landscape; identify regulatory obligations and strategic responses.
• Partner across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Trust & Safety, and Policy to translate safety regs into scalable solutions.

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California Bar or eligible to register as in-house counsel.
• 4+ years of legal experience, ideally in consumer-facing tech.
• Experience counseling product/engineering on online safety, content moderation, or privacy.
• Ability to turn regulatory text into clear, operational guidance for teams.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to give practical online safety and legal advice; cross-functional relations.
