📋 Description

  • Provide daily animal and plant care and habitat maintenance in various exhibit areas at Steinhart
  • Clean habitats, monitor health, perform environmental sampling, and maintain records.
  • Participate in animal welfare and husbandry programs; assist in treatments and new display designs.
  • Work schedule includes weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Interact with staff, guests and the public in a professional manner and follow safety regulations.

🎯 Requirements

  • Previous paid work experience in an aquarium, zoo or similar facility caring for animals/plants.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology or related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of animal care, welfare requirements, USDA/AZA standards, and life support systems.
  • Excellent observation, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask, read and interpret protocols, and work well in a team.
  • Willingness to seek further training and obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification; SCUBA

🎁 Benefits

  • Compensation: The hourly range is $27.64; final compensation based on qualifications and experience.
  • Part-time schedule: 16 hours/week; Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday 8am-5pm.
