Build Engineer Internship (Fall Term 2026)

📋 Description

• Hands-on assembly of ground support equipment, prototypes, and flight hardware.
• Design and develop production workspaces, tooling, and inventory for builds.
• Maintain lab organization, tooling readiness, stock levels, and safety compliance.
• Create, update, and refine work instructions, build docs, and configuration tracking.
• Support outsourced manufacturing: kit prep, handoff, on-site builds, post-build reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers on design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly.

🎯 Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Eng.
• Hands-on experience building or assembling mechanical/electromechanical systems.
• Comfortable with standard mechanical tools, shop equipment, and basic metrology.
• Familiar with CAD software SolidWorks, CREO, or Onshape.
• Exposure to machining, 3D printing, sheet metal, and PCB assembly.
• Experience documenting processes or maintaining build documentation.
