Chief Meteorologist

📋 Description

• Lead forecasting team for a new aviation weather centre in the Caribbean, delivering SIGMETs
• Hire, interview, and build the meteorologist team; establish shift managers and forecasters for
• Set operating standards, forecasting methodologies, SOPs, and quality benchmarks aligned to ICAO
• Own day-to-day forecast operations focusing on convective, turbulence, icing, and tropical weather
• Author, review, and approve outputs prior to dissemination; act as final quality control
• Lead daily operational briefings and represent the centre with regulators, ICAO, and airline

🎯 Requirements

• Degree in meteorology or atmospheric science (or equivalent qualification)
• 8+ years of operational meteorology experience with aviation forecasting background
• Demonstrated managerial experience leading meteorology teams and setting standards
• Deep expertise forecasting convective weather and tropical maritime systems in a regional context
• Strong command of ICAO Annex 3 MET products and WMO competency standards
• Experience producing aviation forecasts (TAFs, convective, turbulence, icing) over large areas
