Distributed Systems Architect: Bare-Metal and High-Scale

📋 Description

• Map cloud components to open-source on-prem equivalents (Kafka/Redpanda, EMQX, ClickHouse/Druid
• Design multi-node clustering, rack-aware replication, and quorum topologies for bare-metal
• Tune Linux kernel params, NUMA bindings, NVMe I/O scheduling, CPU affinity, IRQ balancing.
• Write implementation-ready blueprints and runbooks for DevOps to execute with Terraform and Ansible.
• Review client hardware specs before deployment and give go/no-go call.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years architecting and operating distributed infrastructure at TB to PB scale.
• Expert-level Kafka or Redpanda clustering: partitioning, ISR tuning, consumer groups, compaction.
• Deep Linux systems engineering: kernel networking, storage fabrics, NUMA-aware binding.
• Track record running HA database clusters without cloud load balancer (Patroni, Pacemaker).
• Experience deploying Ceph or MinIO on physical hardware, including CRUSH maps and erasure coding.
• Ability to write blueprints and runbooks executable without interpreter.
