Diving Safety Officer

📋 Description

• Serve as subject matter expert on the Diving Control Board for safe operations.
• Ensure dive program compliance with Cal/OSHA and AAUS standards.
• Prepare policy updates and dive-manual revisions for approval.
• Supervise dive staff; schedule training and safety readiness.
• Support in-house and field diving for education and habitat work.
• Foster collaboration across departments and external partners.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 7 years as active SCUBA instructor with rescue/first aid endorsements.
• Minimum 5 years zoo/aquarium/field scientific diving experience.
• Minimum 5 years as active scientific diver and AAUS member.
• Broad knowledge of diving theory and equipment for safe diving.
• Certified Oxygen Administration, First Aid and CPR instructor.
• Ability to train staff and volunteers in safety, procedures and emergency response.
