Eligibility Specialist (Contract)

📋 Description

• Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using AthenaHealth and payer portals.
• Obtain and track pre-authorizations per payer requirements.
• Identify primary and secondary coverage to coordinate benefits.
• Maintain accurate documentation of verification outcomes for billing compliance.
• Collaborate with billing and patients to resolve eligibility issues.
• Follow up on pending verifications to prevent billing delays.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 2 years in medical billing, front office, insurance verification, or eligibility roles.
• Proficient with AthenaHealth or other EHRs, payer portals, and verification systems.
• Eligibility experience with major commercial plans across multiple states in telehealth.
• Strong verbal and written communication; explain complex insurance details to patients and teams.
• Proven ability to investigate, resolve, and prevent eligibility issues.
• High accuracy in data verification and record keeping.
