Engineering Manager, Data

📋 Description

• Lead and grow Cartesia's data infra and modeling team (6–8 to ~12).
• Set technical direction for web-scale processing, storage, and serving.
• Drive SOTA multimodal pre-training datasets and data curation.
• Establish empirical data quality, training models to value data.
• Partner with modeling and research to translate data into better models.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and researchers as the team scales.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven management experience leading a data team of at least 6.
• Hands-on familiarity with data infrastructure at scale — processing, storage, systems.
• Track record building and leading data efforts, ideally in a modeling project.
• Nice-to-have: previous modeling experience.
• Nice-to-have: experience building data for generative modeling.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with multimodal data (audio, speech, beyond).
