Engineering Manager, Research Data Platform

📋 Description

• Work with researchers and engineers to understand workflows and shape what the team builds next
• Set technical direction for the team across our platform and datasets
• Design and build platform components and libraries that others plug into
• Own core datasets end to end: pipelines, schemas, docs, and guarantees
• Drive canonical datasets starting with the RL data model
• Lead multi-quarter projects spanning systems and teams, staying hands-on in code

• Built and operated data-intensive systems at scale (pipelines, storage, queries)
• Set technical direction for a team or data platform architecture
• Treat internal users as customers; discovery and adoption measurement
• Understand researchers' exploratory workflows; requirements emerge from experiments
• Build stable interfaces and trustworthy data as use cases evolve
• Lead through influence, aligning engineers and stakeholders without formal authority
• Interested in ML fundamentals and the societal impact of your work
