Gateway Engineer

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain API gateway configurations, policies, routes, services, and deployment artifacts.
• Build reusable onboarding and lifecycle components with config-as-code, templates, and scripts.
• Support developer portal/catalog with API docs, onboarding workflows, specs, and identity integration.
• Implement API lifecycle standards for naming, versioning, schemas, errors, security, telemetry, and docs.
• Work within government-approved CI/CD environments without owning enterprise CI/CD platforms.

🎯 Requirements

• Active IRS MBI or IRS suitability.
• Experience with API gateway products such as Kong, Apigee, IBM API Connect.
• Experience developing developer portals, API catalogs, onboarding workflows.
• Developer portal platforms such as Backstage, Stoplight, Kong Dev Portal, Apigee Developer Portal.
• Accessibility awareness (Section 508 / WCAG 2.1) for developer portal delivery.
• OpenShift/Kubernetes, containers, GitOps, CI/CD, and observability tools.
