Head of Engineering

📋 Description

• Accountable for what engineering ships and how; about half the role is hands-on in the codebase -
• Set and hold the bar for code quality, testing, code review, documentation, post-mortems, and
• Give direct, specific, technical feedback quickly when someone isn't performing; grow people
• Hire, onboard, and develop engineers as the team grows from six to ~15-20 over the next two years.
• Turn individual AI productivity gains into team-level output that customers feel.
• Ensure engineering reliability through root-cause discipline, pre-mortems, on-call, incident

• High agency, action-oriented, curious, direct, and frustrated by slow delivery.
• A through-and-through builder who still writes code in spare time and is pulled to hardest problems.
• Strong hands-on technical skills; the strongest technical contributor in the room.
• Ability to weigh engineering decisions by customer impact, not engineering aesthetics.
• Pragmatic risk judgement: engineering effort proportional to consequence; comfortable holding the
• Tailor communication to audience - engineers, product, leadership, founders.
