Labor and Employment Counsel

📋 Description

• Employment Law: advise People Ops and execs; ensure compliance with laws.
• Policy Development: draft scalable policies to support growth.
• Investigations & Employee Relations: conduct investigations; ensure fair resolutions.
• Broad-Scope Support: handle general legal matters; review contracts.
• Outside Counsel Management: direct outside counsel for litigation.
• Leadership: build the employment law function and train managers.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience (law firm and/or in-house).
• Deep knowledge of US employment law; contract drafting & negotiation.
• JD from accredited law school; active state Bar membership.
• Startup mindset; handle ambiguity; balance L&E with commercial work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; distill risk for business.
• Integrity & Judgment; team-first and collaborative problem solving.
• Preferred: in-house experience, DOE/government contracting, and/or labor relations.
