Lead Data Scientist, Fraud Modelling

📋 Description

• Lead Data Scientist for Fraud & Risk in Cape Town DS team.
• Research, develop and deploy ML models to detect fraud across attribution and partner risk.
• Build scalable production systems to address traditional and emerging fraud threats.
• Explore graph-based fraud detection and graph databases for relationships.
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance and Trust & Safety to monitor trends.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years in data science/ML; 2+ years in fraud/risk in production.
• Fraud & risk domain expertise: building and deploying fraud models.
• Technical: Python and SQL; scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM.
• Feature engineering; model evaluation (ROC/AUC, PR); imbalanced data.
• Production ML workflows: versioning, monitoring, A/B testing, retraining.
• Education: Bachelor's in quantitative field; Master’s/PhD preferred.
