Lead Metallurgical Process Engineer — Metallurgy and Heavy Forging

📋 Description

• Define ultra-large forging process flow: melting to heat treatment.
• Study world-class facilities to benchmark current best practice.
• Develop forging process models from first principles: deformation, thermal, microstructure.
• Understand steps and phenomena that drive homogenization and impurity removal.
• Role will be remote to start; relocation to Washington, DC in 2027.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep metallurgical and metal-forming expertise.
• Deep understanding of homogenization and impurity removal.
• Thermomechanics of open-die forging, grain refinement, forging params.
• Experience with large-scale metal forming, heat treatment, or steelmaking.
• Ability to challenge conventional approaches with fundamental insight.
• 7–15 years of experience.
• Advanced degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science, or mechanical engineering.
