Manager, Engineering, Git & Gitaly Operations

📋 Description

• Build and lead a team with deep Git and Gitaly platform expertise.
• Own production reliability for Git and Gitaly across GitLab's deployment footprint.
• Drive incident management and postmortems to distinguish Git internals from infra issues.
• Design and operate Git and Gitaly service models across Self-Managed, Dedicated, and SaaS.
• Maintain cloud-agnostic architecture and tooling decisions.
• Partner with deployment-model teams to keep operational practices coherent.

🎯 Requirements

• Hands-on expertise in Git internals: protocol, object model, and storage.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals: consistency, replication, failure handling.
• Experience running production infra across multiple deployment models.
• Experience with elastic storage/compute and consumption-based design.
• People management experience, leading SRE-style or platform ops teams.
• Direct experience with Gitaly, libgit2, JGit, or related Git internals.
