  • Design shaft couplings, torque-transfer interfaces, and rotary joints for engine-generator integration.
  • Develop gearbox concepts to match engine and generator RPM/torque.
  • Perform structural, fatigue, modal, and dynamic FEA for rotating machinery.
  • Define tolerances, alignment strategy, bearings, lubrication paths, and balancing.
  • Support prototype fabrication, build test rigs, and hardware validation.
  • Collaborate with engine, generator, motor, and structural teams for system integration.

๐ŸŽฏ Requirements

  • 3+ years in mechanical transmission, drivetrain, or rotating machinery design.
  • Strong understanding of gear trains, torsional dynamics, vibration, fatigue, and high-speed rotation.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS for structural, modal, fatigue, and thermal FEA.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, shaft machining, and DFM.
  • Experience integrating couplings or gearboxes with engines, motors, or generators.
  • Bonus: exposure to aerospace lightweighting or UAV drivetrain systems.
