Medical Coder (Outpatient)

📋 Description

• Code outpatient encounters across clinic visits, urgent care, radiology, laboratory services, other
• Assign appropriate E/M levels in accordance with current E/M guidelines, CPT Assistant, and Coding
• Apply NCCI bundling edits and use appropriate modifiers, including modifiers such as 25, 59, and
• Review multiple CPT codes to determine whether services are components of a larger procedure
• Assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnoses to ancillary and diagnostic services based on the reason the
• Review clinical documentation in CPRS and enter coding and related data into the VistA Patient Care

🎯 Requirements

• Hold an active CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or CPC-H credential.
• Have at least 2 years of recent outpatient coding experience, including E/M services, ancillary
• Complete an accredited coding, Health Information Management, or Health Information Technician
• Have formal training in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, NCCI edits, and coding modifiers.
• Be proficient with an industry-standard medical coding encoder.
