Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Backend Platform)

📋 Description

• The Backend Platform team builds reliable, scalable infrastructure to support Perplexity products
• Own backend services for authentication, authorization, data flows, and sandboxing to ensure
• Lead design and implementation of sandboxing to safely run untrusted code with high reliability.
• Set standards for reliability, observability, and incident response across always-on systems.
• Collaborate with product and AI teams to define interfaces, SLAs, and integration patterns.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years designing and building backend systems in production (mid-level and above).
• Strong system design with scalable, reliable architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and related cloud tech.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust in a multi-language environment.
• Collaborative mindset for solving hard technical problems with engineers.
• Comfort with security-sensitive areas (auth, authorization, encryption) and pragmatic trade-offs.
