Outpatient Coding Specialist

📋 Description

• Review outpatient and ancillary medical records to identify relevant diagnoses, verify provider
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes using coding software and encoder tools, following
• Verify medical necessity requirements by reviewing encoder edits and relevant CMS policies
• Review charges in the Cerner billing system to ensure accuracy and timely submission, communicating
• Monitor pre-bill reports and actively contribute to revenue cycle activities by completing coding
• Participate in training and educational activities to maintain coding expertise, stay informed

🎯 Requirements

• Required coding certification: CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, or CCA. Candidates holding a CPC or CPC-A
• Candidates interested in progressing to advanced coding positions, such as Inpatient Coding
• Previous coding experience in a medical center or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs)
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, medical necessity requirements, reimbursement
• Basic computer proficiency, including fundamental PC maintenance and troubleshooting skills.

🎁 Benefits

• Salary: $17.95–$26.93 per hour.
