• Write high-impact local news items in Axios Smart Brevity style
• Jump on timely stories, events and trends
• Contribute to Axios Local newsletters and sites daily
• Collaborate with an editor and full-time newsletter authors
• Help fill longer coverage gaps occasionally (1-3 months)

• Strong news judgment and concise writing
• Move quickly and hit deadlines
• Curiosity across many subjects (sports, business, dining, etc.)
• Comfort writing in a conversational, reader-first voice
• Original reporting and smart aggregation
• Experience with newsletters or audience-focused writing
